Overpass
Initial status
The existing overpass takes the Weimar-Erfurt track, two freight train tracks and the feeder track to the washing bay over the line from Sangerhausen to Erfurt central station and the line from Wolkramshausen to Erfurt central station. The overpass was constructed in 1889. The superstructures were originally constructed as dual-span plate girder bridges with a sunken track.
Planned status
The overpass structure is being constructed at the same point, but the new dimensions will be significantly different. The addition of two new freight train tracks means that five tracks will go over the overpass in future. The overpass has a total width of 80 metres and a length of 102 metres. The structure has a frame made of in-situ concrete with transverse joints between the individual blocks. The frame has a dual span with a central support.
The project is currently at the tendering stage. The construction work is planned for 2012 to 2014 in construction stages IV and V.
