German Unity Transport Project 8

 Nuremberg – Erfurt – Halle/Leipzig – Berlin

Puschkinstraße railway bridge

The bridge allows the tracks of the Halle-Guntershausen line to cross Puschkinstraße. In order to allow it to take five tracks rather than the previous four, the bridge had to be widened on the north side. This interfered with the adjacent Elisabethstraße and parts of the Stadtpark (city park). Encroachments into the surrounding area and the green spaces, in particular, were kept to a minimum. The bridge is constructed using girders in concrete and has box abutments with shallow foundations. It is approximately 29 metres long with a headroom of 4.20 metres and a clear width of 12 metres.

The construction work was carried out in two stages from 2005 to 2008.
