The journey times for ICE trains

Journey times on the Erfurt-Leipzig route will be 39 minutes shorter in future. The journey from Erfurt to Halle/Saale will take 31 minutes.

Two major lines will join the new line from Erfurt to Leipzig/Halle in future. From the south there will be the line from Munich to Erfurt. And from the west, there will be the line from Frankfurt am Main to the Thuringian capital. From Erfurt the new line then goes either to Leipzig and on to Dresden or to Halle (Saale) and on to Berlin. In the greater Halle/Leipzig area the trains from the Ruhr area, Hamburg and Magdeburg to Dresden use part of the new line from Halle to Leipzig.
