 Nuremberg – Erfurt – Halle/Leipzig – Berlin

Three construction phases by 2017

The first construction phase was the provision of the electronic signalling sub-centres of Leipzig East and Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, which are among the most efficient electronic signalling centres ever built in Germany.

The second construction phase, which started in 2009, involved the associated work on the Leipzig City Tunnel.

The third construction phase, integration of VDE 8.2 into the Leipzig hub and the upgrade of the Leipzig-Mockau – Leipzig Hauptbahnhof section, commenced in 2012, to ensure opening of the new VDE 8.2 line by 2015 and the VDE 8.1 line by 2017.
