Line construction in the Finne Tunnel section of line

In the Finne Tunnel section of line, the earthwork is being carried out from the east portal of the Finne Tunnel to the Saubach Viaduct.

A total of around 1,250,000 m³ of material extracted from tunnelling and from earthworks for the cutting leading to the tunnel and the Saubachtal overtaking station is being used by the east portal of the Finne Tunnel. 310,000 m³ of this material is from the Bibra Tunnel alone. To protect the Schneck Valley from any disturbance from the adjacent construction area, a 700-metre protective wall is being built. Water drains into the rainwater retention basin created from an open drainage ditch.

Line construction in the Bibra Tunnel section of line

In the Bibra Tunnel section of line, the earthwork is being carried out from the east portal of the Bibra Tunnel to the point where the line joins up with the Unstrut Viaduct.

Around 780,000 m³ of soil is being extracted from the Bibra Tunnel and stored temporarily on the line to the Unstrut Viaduct. A total of almost 1,800,000 m³ of material obtained from tunnelling can be used for line construction measures. In this section it is planned to implement drainage into the Dissau, a nearby river.
