Line construction in line lot 1
At Tonberg at the end of the Erfurt junction, the current line is being widened for up to six tracks. Around 250,000 cubic metres of earth has to be removed here for a cutting. 100,000 cubic metres of material has already been removed and used elsewhere. For example, it has been used to widen the embankment for the new line by Vieselbach, where it branches off in a large curve towards Buttstädt. More earth is being used to build a new track towards the north east. A new bridge takes the Vieselbach-Azmannsdorf road over the new line.
